Time is supposed to heal all wounds, but what happens when it doesn't?
Gun violence is a hurt that never heals and its wounds are constantly covered up by the pain, never to be erased. Wounds like these leave you shattered, broken, fragmented, and overwhelmed. The pain becomes a part of you and in time, your mind covers the wounds with scar tissue to lessen their hurt. The hurt never heals, and the pain never dies, one just learns to exist beyond it. After experiencing the internal wounds of the loss of a loved one and/or friend due to gun violence, pieces of the heart remain fractured never to be made whole again. This type of hurt never heals. It simply just festers and eats at the soul.
It could all be avoided however, if one puts down the guns and simply lives their lives.
